La Grande Bouffe (1973) - Marcello Mastroianni / Marco Ferreri

La Grande Bouffe (1973) - Marcello Mastroianni / Marco Ferreri Tube. Duration : 124.60 Mins.

La Grande Bouffe (English: The Grande Bouffe and Blow-Out) is a 1973 prize winning French--Italian film directed by Marco Ferreri. It stars Marcello Mastroianni, Ugo Tognazzi, Michel Piccoli and Philippe Noiret. The film tells the story of four friends who gather in a villa for the weekend for the express purpose of eating themselves to death. The film was somewhat controversial upon its original release with its scatological humour and comic depictions of sex and over-eating. Marco Ferreri won the FIPRESCI Prize given by the International Federation of Film Critics at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival. ~ Wiki The film was originally shown unlicensed in the UK at the Curzon Cinema in Mayfair, and led pro-censorship campaigner Mary Whitehouse to bring a prosecution against the film under the Vagrancy Act (accusing the cinema owners of "keeping a disorderly house") The case was thrown out and led censor James Ferman to extend the Obscene Publications Act to cover films, thus preventing movies with 'artistic merit' from suffering prosecution. The film was eventually passed fully uncut for video in 1994. ~ IMDB English subtitles/captions available on YouTube [CC] button

How to Make Peanut Butter Balls - The Best Way

Due to the foreseen, number of requests for my peanut butter balls, I've decided to make my recipe ready to all!

If you're like me, and you enjoy the finer things in life, like a sweetmeat based off of peanut butter, than you are going to enjoy this.

Truffles Recipe Easy

This sweetmeat is great for parties as well as the family. You will end up with nearby 25-50 -- leaving you with adequate to to go around.

How to Make Peanut Butter Balls - The Best Way

Here is my take on How to Make Peanut Butter Balls

  1. Mix 2 cups of peanut butter with 1 1/4 stick of softened butter until you get a plane consistency.
  2. Slowly add in 4 cups of powdered sugar until it's well mixed -- roll the aggregate into 1 inch balls and then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Melt your beloved chocolate and dip or pour the chocolate onto the balls -- I recommend placing a sheet of wax paper under the peanut butter balls to keep them from sticking to the plate.
  4. Refrigerate till chocolate creates a hard shell.

Sounds pretty easy, right? Well it is!

These don't have to be -- and in my opinion, shouldn't be -- over complicated. I've seen many different variations of these out there. Some recipes call for some vanilla, cereal, flaked coconut, honey and even chopped nuts -- you name it, person will endeavor to stuff them into these poor small balls of goodness.

Sometimes, Simple is Better

Personally, I prefer the more simple approach. In the end, they just turn out better.

The Dangers In Chocolate

Let's face it, many of us are chocoholics. If we weren't, we wouldn't be enduringly bombarded with ads for Ring Dings, Devil Dogs and what have you. If you counted the whole of ads in newspapers, magazines and on Tv for some kind of chocolate stock and tied them end to end, you could probably go to the moon and back a hundred times. Well, as good as chocolate might taste, especially that unquestionably expected German chocolate, it is probably one of the worst things you can put in your body. In this article, we'll cover just a few of the dangers of chocolate and chocolate based products. You may not ever eat another Ring Ding for the rest of your life.

The cocoa bean, of which chocolate is partially made, is loaded with caffeine. This is a good part of the calculate why kids who eat a lot of chocolate are so hyper. The caffeine in some chocolate products is unquestionably greater than the caffeine in a cup of coffee or even a can of cola. Chocolate in children is like putting them on speed. One of the biggest causes of Adhd in children is because of chocolate and chocolate based products.

Truffles Recipe Easy

But caffeine is only part of the qoute and unquestionably just the tip of the iceberg. If you ever tasted chocolate in its pure form, you probably noticed that it was unquestionably a diminutive on the bitter side. It unquestionably isn't sweet like the chocolate products that you are used to eating. The calculate these products are so sweet is because they are loaded with sugar. It is almost impossible to find a chocolate based stock that isn't loaded with sugar, exterior of dietetic products, simply because they quite unquestionably don't taste very good and there wouldn't be as big a market. As a result, the sugar contained in these chocolate products causes a whole of problems including diabetes, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, and way too many illnesses to list here. As a matter of fact, sugar is one of the foremost caused of health problems in the United States.

The Dangers In Chocolate

To supplementary add insult to injury, most commercially ready chocolate products are loaded with chemicals to keep them fresh. Did you ever look at the expiration date on a container of Ring Dings? Nothing should last that long and still be edible.

So, as much as we all love chocolate (I am an ex addict), it is something that we can all do without. I personally have been chocolate free for 6 years and don't miss it one bit.

Try eliminating it from your diet before it begins to eliminate you.

To Your Health,

Steve Wagner

Cake balls

Cake balls Video Clips. Duration : 8.73 Mins.

Facebook: www.facebook.com Link to all my videos: www.youtube.com Please see my other videos for the recipes for the cake and buttercream. Almond sour cream is a twist on my yellow cake recipe, I used almond extract and subbed out half of the milk for sour cream. Now, to be honest, cake balls are good, but they're not my favorite, I'd rather just eat the cake :D But they're easy to make, easier to eat and everyone else seems to just love them so that makes me enjoy making them. You could decorate them some with sprinkles or non-pariels. I haven't gotten that far yet, maybe one of these days. And Bakerella, if you read this, know that'd I'd love to be at a class where you teach the art of making these :DI think I've made these maybe 5 times and only once had them turn out perfect. The cinnamon bun recipe is from Cook's Country by America's Test Kitchen and believe me, it was AWESOME! Same with the chocolate chip cookies, they turn out huge and are really good but require some extra steps. Baking isn't a problem, but I did try to frost a trial cake the other day and ow, no good. It's definitely been a test of patience, not my strong suit but God is good and He keeps working on me :D lol-I get a lot of people telling me I have a lot of patience to cake but that's just one area of my life, the whole reason I got tendinitis in the first place was my lack of patience over slowly pouring the ingredients into the mixer :D And oh, you might start occasionally hearing a musical ...

Christmas supper Traditions and dessert Ideas

Christmas is my family's beloved time of year. We have many Christmas traditions that we've advanced over the years.  One is that each year one of us daughters (mother and sister-in-laws) is responsible for a part of the dinner.  My beloved part to make is the Christmas desserts.

Our house is large, there are five sisters, four brothers and both parents still living. We also have a lot of wives, husbands, nieces and nephews mixed in. When we get together there are twenty seven people.  Each year one of us cooks for a dissimilar segment. We put the evening meal segments in a hat. After dinner, after all the dishes are done and we're relaxing we choose what our dishes will be for the next year. The menu is broken up into appetizers, before and after evening meal drinks (for the adults), meat, stuffing/potatoes (starch), vegetables, rolls, desserts. Two population are responsible for meat, two for stuffing/potatoes and two for vegetables. One for appetizers, one for before and after evening meal drinks and one for desserts. And, now that there are ten of us every year one lucky girl gets a get out of jail free card, which means she doesn't have to cook the next year!

Truffles Recipe Easy

As I said earlier Christmas dessert is my favorite. I start cooking about a week in advance. I know everybody's favorites, and like to add a few new things.  I like to make lots of dissimilar types of desserts for the family. One of my favorites is Black lowest Cup Cakes. Someone else is Greek Almond Cookies. These are super simple. Someone else beloved is definitely a Red Velvet Cake with Butter Cream Icing. It's my Grandmother's recipe and the house loves it. The Red Velvet Cake is the one thing we're guaranteed to have every year, regardless of who is assigned dessert duty.

I also make a Cinnamon Crumb Cake, a Chocolate Truffle with Raspberry Sauce and a Louisiana Roasted Pecan Pie.  All of these things make quite an impressive looking Christmas dessert buffet and every person is able to find something that they assuredly like.

Over the years we girls have shared recipes in the middle of us.  We all love cooking, us sisters were all raised to enjoy being in the kitchen.  When a new item is introduced to the table there is also a menu card for each sister for that new item.  When I added Greek Almond Cookies to the dessert table last year every person was amazed how easy the recipe is. I got it from an actual Greek friend, Valerie.  The Cinnamon Crumb Cake is also easy to make and goes assuredly well with a cup of coffee after dinner.

One year when my sister-in-law picked the Christmas dessert quantum of our meal I gave her a lot of guidance on recipes as she assuredly isn't comfortable baking. I went to her home two days before Christmas and helped her make the primary Red Velvet Cake. She did it assuredly well and is now a pro!

Perhaps if you have a large house you can do something like our house does. We all enjoy our Christmas cooking tradition.

Ina Garten's Roasted Turkey Roulade and Baked Sweet Potato "Fries"

I don't know anyone who looks forward to carving a turkey on Thanksgiving. You're at the table, everyone's watching, and you're struggling to carve a hot bird. Instead, I decided to make a roasted turkey breast stuffed with all kinds of delicious things--sausage, cranberries, and figs. No bones and it cooks to juicy perfection in under two hours. How easy is that?

Sweet potatoes are available year-round, but their prime season is really autumn and winter. Choose potatoes that are smooth and unblemished, and use them fairly soon because they don't keep as well as other potatoes. These potatoes are crispy like fries but they're better for you because they're baked. --Ina Garten

Roasted Turkey Roulade
(Serves 6 or 7)

3/4 cup large-diced dried figs, stems removed
3/4 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup Calvados or brandy
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
1-1/2 cups diced onions (2 onions)
1 cup (1/2-inch-diced) celery (3 stalks)
3/4 pound pork sausage, casings removed (sweet and hot mixed)
1-1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary leaves
3 tablespoons pine nuts, toasted
3 cups Pepperidge Farm herb-seasoned stuffing mix
1-1/2 cups chicken stock, preferably homemade
1 extra-large egg, beaten
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 whole (2 halves) turkey breast, boned and butterflied (5 pounds)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Place the dried figs and cranberries in a small saucepan and pour in the Calvados and 1/2 cup water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then lower the heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside.

Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large (12-inch) skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and celery and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the sausage, crumbling it into small bits with a fork, and sauté, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes, until cooked and browned. Add the figs and cranberries with the liquid, the chopped rosemary, and pine nuts, and cook for 2 more minutes. Scrape up the brown bits with a wooden spoon.

Place the stuffing mix in a large bowl. Add the sausage mixture, chicken stock, egg, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper and stir well. (The stuffing may be prepared ahead and stored in the refrigerator overnight.)

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Place a baking rack on a sheet pan.

Lay the butterflied turkey breast skin side down on a cutting board. Sprinkle the meat with 2 teaspoons salt and 1 teaspoon pepper. Spread the stuffing in a 1/2-inch-thick layer over the meat, leaving a half-inch border on all sides. Don’t mound the stuffing or the turkey will be difficult to roll. (Place the leftover stuffing in a buttered gratin dish and bake for the last 45 minutes of roasting alongside the turkey.) Starting at one end, roll the turkey like a jelly roll and tuck in any stuffing that tries to escape on the sides. Tie the roast firmly with kitchen twine every 2 inches to make a compact cylinder.

Place the stuffed turkey breast seam side down on the rack on the sheet pan. Brush with the melted butter, sprinkle generously with salt and pepper, and roast for 1-3/4 to 2 hours, until a thermometer reads 150 degrees in the center. (I test in a few places.) Cover the turkey with aluminum foil and allow it to rest at room temperature for 15 minutes. Carve 1/2-inch-thick slices and serve warm with the extra stuffing.

Baked Sweet Potato "Fries"
(Serves 4)

2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled
2 tablespoons good olive oil
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus extra for sprinkling
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.

Halve the sweet potatoes lengthwise and cut each half into 3 long spears. Place them on a sheet pan and toss with the olive oil. Spread the potatoes in one layer. Combine the brown sugar, salt, and pepper and sprinkle on the potatoes. Bake for 15 minutes and then turn with a spatula. Bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, until lightly browned. Sprinkle lightly with salt and serve hot.

Why Chocolate for Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day is many things to different people- a opening to start new relationships, rekindle old ones, or remind that extra someone how extraordinary they surely are. Others feel it is just someone else "Hallmark" holiday where they are predicted to do something for unknown reasons. Regardless of your hopes, expectations, or reservations about Valentine's Day, chocolate has long been a beloved gift for lovers.

Since the days of the Aztecs chocolate has been used as a gift. Today a box of luxurious ability chocolate says a thousand "thank you's", "good luck", or "I love you". Chocolate can be given as a way of saying "congratulations", "I am sorry" or "get well soon". On Valentine's Day chocolate clearly says "I Love You!" Chocolate is more than food, it not only fills your belly but also makes you feel soooo good. Elaine Sherman wrote "Chocolate is heavenly, mellow, sensual, deep, dark, sumptuous, gratifying, potent, dense, creamy, seductive, suggestive, rich, excessive, silky, smooth, luxurious, celestial. Chocolate is downfall, happiness, pleasure, love, ecstasy, fantasy ... Chocolate makes us wicked, guilty, sinful, healthy, chic, happy." What more could you want to say to your lover on Valentines Day? Even the scientific name for the tree from which chocolate is derived, Theobroma cacao, translated from Greek, means "food of the gods".

Truffles Recipe Easy

Why does chocolate evoke so many feelings and emotions for us? Chocolate has long been connected with passion, romance and love. This relationship may go all the way back to the Aztecs. They believed chocolate was a source of spiritual wisdom, predicted energy and elevated sexual power. Chocolate was widely used as a nuptial aid and was widely served at wedding ceremonies. The Aztecs did not know chocolate as we do today; they consumed the cocoa as a drink. Reports indicate that the Emperor Montezuma consumed large quantities of the drink every day and always fortified himself with a cup before moving his harem. The explorer Cortes reported to Carlos I of Spain that chocolate is "... The divine drink which builds up resistance and fights fatigue. A cup of this costly drink enables a man to walk for a whole day without food." From the earliest times, chocolate was carefully a substance of power and a source of vitality.

Why Chocolate for Valentine's Day?

Chocolate has been a field of study since the first shipment from Veracruz arrived in Spain in 1585. But modern science has made some moving findings that may help explicate our lust for ability chocolate. Chocolate contains organic substances known as alkaloids. The most prominent of these substances is theobromine, which works as a stimulant to the kidneys. Stimulants in chocolate also influence the central nervous system, with effects similar to caffeine, which is also gift in chocolate. A chocolate bar may comprise as much as 200 mg of theobromine but only about 25 mg of caffeine. someone else prominent substance found in chocolate is phenylethylamine, which is part of a group of chemicals known as endorphins. Endorphins have an supervene similar to amphetamine and are found plainly in the human body. When endorphins are released into the bloodstream, the mood is lifted and feelings of clear energy are reached. The sensation known as "runners high" is caused by endorphins released while exercise. Phenylethylamine levels in the brain have also been connected to "falling in love". One more chemical found in chocolate is seratonin. Seratonin is known for its calming properties. The presence of these chemicals may explicate the multitude of feelings chocolate evokes.

Debra Waterhouse, author of Why Women Need Chocolate, conducted a inspect and found: 97% of women reported cravings, 68% of which are for chocolate, 50% would choose chocolate over sex, and 22% were more likely than men to choose chocolate as a mood elevator. These findings could surely be interpreted as a supervene of how chocolate makes us feel. I don't know why more women choose chocolate than men, for I am a man and I love chocolate.

Critics would say that the benefits of eating chocolate are small when compared to the sugar and fat contained in a chocolate bar. The best chocolate, dark chocolate with high cacao butter content has no added fat, as well as a high ration of cacao solids and correspondingly less sugar. Although chocolate will never be carefully a condition food based on its nutritional value, it is still good for you! Good for your heart and soul-anything that helps ease stress and makes you feel so good must be.

Receiving a nicely wrapped box of chocolates causes a sense of anticipation. The delight of unwrapping the box, the sensual smell, lifting the soft seductive papers, the look of the level dark chocolates. When it finally passes your lips and starts to at once melt filling your mouth with exquisite pleasure. The taste and smell flood your senses with extraordinary ecstasy. Eating it slowly, taking time to enjoy and savor every bit. What good way to start off an evening of love?

Chocolate and the Art of Low-Fat Desserts Overview

Featuring more than eighty recipes, the follow-up cookbook to Cocolat, from the author whose name is synonymous with chocolate desserts, offers such delights as Triple Mousse Cake, Chocolate Walnut Torte, and Chocolate Truffles--all with lower fat and fewer calories.

Chocolate and the Art of Low-Fat Desserts Specifications

There are considerably fewer calories in Alice Medrich's latest book than in Cocolat, her first, award-winning cookbook. In Chocolate and the Art of Low-Fat Desserts, Medrich presents recipes that cut fat without compromising texture or flavor--a chocolate lover's dream come true. With offerings like Black Bottom Bananas Napoleons (made with chocolate custard) or Double Chocolate Layer Cake (with less than a third of its calories from fat), Medrich proves that wonderfully indulgent treats don't have to add to your waistline. The book won the 1995 James Beard Cookbook Award.
